Looking at a possibility of 3 types of anemones. Which would be the easiest / most hardy (if there is such a thing).

Bubble Tip
Condy
Pink Tipped (Haitian)

I'm asking because I have a great hookup w/ a local Petco, the Pink tipped is $10 and the condys are $2.49 each!! Not sure about the bubble yet, but they take care of all the shipping and keep it in their reef tank for a few days to make sure it doesn't die (they get credit if it does). Their pink tipped has been in for over a week now and I have it on hold. Only petco I've ever seen with a good saltwater section/people. Infact the girl who runs it asked me if I want to work at another local one who wants to get quality marine life going :D

Condy's are relatively easy, but they are an Atlantic species so don't expect it to host any clowns.

I'd go with the condy, just make sure it can't get too close to a powerhead.

Another choice is a Long Tentacle anemone (M.doorensis). These are pacific hosting anemones that will take clowns. They're hardy, don't move about much (settles into the sandbed), and can be very colorful. They get big, however, so make sure you leave at least a foot around it for it to grow and expand.

Len's suggestion is a good one - I like LTAs. Dig a small depression in the sand, set his 'foot' in that and surround him with a few pieces of rock rubble - he should dig down and attach there and not wander unless current or light changes drastically. I know it's been said before but make sure you have no exposed intakes on any of your powerheads/filters , trust me the anemone will end up in them if they move, I lost my beautiful purple LTA that way from the one Hagen powerhead I forgot to put the cover back on.

Bubble tips are a little less demanding in my opinion but LTA's are gorgeous - they can get huge up to 10-12" across in captivity so be warned!

LTAs are wonderfully hardy anemones. The only thing bad about them is that they can grow VERY large VERY fast. They (any anemone) will sting corals when they feel crowded in. I had an LTA grow 6+ inches in 3 months, I ended up having to find it a new home. The up-side is that quite a few clowns will host in an LTA.

Here is a photo of the LTA I had with it's tomato clown.

Well they got some LTAs in but they were really small and were all bunched up, so I'm going to wait a few days to make sure they live. $22 for a LTA, normal?
