Is there anything i can use the waste water from my Maxxima Ro/di for, does it have to be discarded, as i am on a water meter,it just seems a waste
i get more waste water than filtered water, though it does help with the water quality alot.
Another thing, anyone got any ideas on auto-top-off as i am losing about 1 1/2 gallons a day in evap on my 180

Thanks for any and all abuse

I use a large bucket outdoor to hold water for my little garden. Others use it for swimming poor, others use it for laudry. In some place, the waste water is actually more pure than tap water!

Use it on your garden, water your plants, use it for waterchange water for a freshwater tank, etc. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. I just let mine go back to the water treatment plant.

Dude, there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers.

Use it to flush your toilet!

Just let it fill a 5 gal bucket and when you are done, pour it in.

That will flush just about anything

I have a dumber question. Where is the wastewater coming from? My RO/DI is set up under the kitchen sink and comes out of a spigot on top of the sink. Am I supposed to be draining something?

:!: :!: :!: The wastewater must have been plumbed to the drain when the system was installed. Or else the floorboards under your sink are melting away. Or else you are pulling our chains.

This never got answered in the thread, and even though it was from 2003, I guess the info is still useful,
especially as we get even more "green" every year, or we're supposed to.
The water that is wasted with a RO/DI unit is used to flush the membrane. As you push water through
the membrane, there are solids that don't make it through, and they have to be flushed away from the
surface or the membrane would be clogged almost immediately. Someone in the thread stated that the
water was cleaner than tap water, and that is not so. It is tap water with MORE dissolved solids in it
than before it started. That said it is not polluted or anything, and can be used to do anything you wish.
The toilet is good, but it seems to be more physical labor than a person is really into. It waters plants
really well, fills dog bowls, washes cars, blablabla.
