Not much personal experience with many of their models (just the Remora), but plenty of folks here do, I'm sure...

You'll probably get a better answer if you can be specific:
What size system will this be going on?
How will the system be setup (ie. live rock, live sand, etc.)?
Will it be in the sump or a hang-on model?
What are you going to keep in the system?

The new skimmer will be used in a 55gal. sump, on a 200gal. tank, with calcium reactor, 230 lbs. live rock, about 360lbs. of aragonite over plenum, and halide and pc lighting.

If you want to go with an AquaC, it looks like you're looking at the EV-240 or maybe the EV-400 (if you want heavy skimming).

Personally, for a comparable price to those AquaC models, I'd prefer to have a Beckett-type skimmer (ex. MyReefCreations, Precision Marine, etc.) or a EuroReef.

JMO...

I've got a AquaC 240 easy to set up and dial in. Almost went with the euroreef, but the footprint on those skimmers are huge. the euroreef would not fit in my 55gal sump.

That's true, I think anything over about a CS8-3 is too big to fit in a standard 12" wide aquarium if you're looking at their in-sump models. EuroReef is, however, making external models now.

I have the ev120 for about 2 years now, no complaints, consistent producer. This is on a 75 with a 20gallon sump, so it's a smaller system than yours, but I don't see why a bigger unit on your system would be any less reliable.

I just bought a AquaC urchin for my new sump to be setup tonight after work. I heard that AquaC is one of the best brands for skimming, will let you know after I have had it running for a spell......

Got my sump hooked up and the AquaC Urchin in ther running for about 2 days now. Like the design and the ease to assemble but it hasnt "kicked in" yet. Im waiting for the tank/sump to stabalize and it better start spewing out some foam!

Nope,

Established tank close to 2 years. New sump though. heard too many good things and had to jump in. Love the new sump, just cant wait for my skimmer to kick in. Shouldnt it only take about a day or two for the skimmer to start foaming??

Bang Bang shoot em up,
you got a sump also?

When I added my Seaclone150 it started drawing skimmate the first day. I had to empty the cup once a week. Now it is on my 100 gallon and I empty it once bi-weekly to once a month.

My AquaC Urchin (In-sump) Is now just starting to foam up the column but not into the collection cup yet. I can tell its a good high quality skimmer but I better start seeing my cup runeth over soon!!!! Has been hooked up for 5 days now.......

It usually takes about a week or two for them to kick in and start spewing crap out of the cup. I have a remora on my sump and it works just fine. They are great skimmers and smaller than most so you can fit them in tight spots.
