Can anyone tell me what the difference ism, and what the abbreviations are for & between LPS, SPS, Mushrooms, Clams & Soft Corals?

Cos at the moment I'm a little confused! :? :?:

Soft coral = corals like Nepthea, Anthelia, Green Star Polyps, Leathers, etc. They do not lay down a calcifying skeleton.

LPS = "Large Polyped Stoney" corals. Corals like brains, frogspawn, bubble corals, etc.

SPS = "Small Polyped Stoney" corals. Corals like Acropora, Hydophora, Seriatopora, etc.

Mushrooms = Discosoma, Ricordea, Rhodactis, etc.

Clams = Tridacnid species clams (Deresa, Gigas, etc).

Probably the best resource I can point you to would be Eric Borneman's Aquarium Corals book as it covers all of the major corals in the hobby.

Yup, I'd definitely say we have an english person here... :D

My wife is(was) from oxford -- and it took forever for all the cheers to go out of our marriage..... :D :D :D
