Hello all. 1st of all, thanks for all the ongoing help...this forum is awesome. about 3 weeks ago, i placed my 2 sick ocellaris clowns (c.irritans) into a 10 G QT, tried FW dip and hyposalinity, got down to 1.012 sg but the parasite kept returning. the last outbreak was killing them quickly so i switched to copper for treatment, based on some advice from this board. i've been using Mardel CopperSafe for about 1 week and it seems to be working. my clowns have returned to what seems to be perfect health and no white spots.

My question is: in keeping up with almost daily water changes to control the ammonia level in the QT, my copper level keeps fluctuating because i don't understand the dosing conversion. The Mardel label doesn't specify maintenance levels...they only mention how much to add at the beginning. My german copper test kit measures in mg/liter but everything i read about copper treatment talks in PPM? does anyone know the conversion beteen mg/liter and PPM? how many mg/liter of copper is the right amount?

Thanks. -Bill

Bill,

Here's a kicker for ya: 1 mg/L = 1 PPM. :P

FYI: for hyposalinity to work, the S.G. has to be 1.009 or lower.

Wow, that will make it easy. Thanks a ton Len!!!

I'll give the hyposalinity another try if the c.irritans strike again. Obviously, I didn't go low enough.

Thanks. -Bill
