I just got some Figi LR in my tank and I want to know how long I should keep my lights on in order to avoid major detrimental algae problems but still encourage the growth of whatever treasures lie encrusted on my LR. Would 10 hours a day do it? Help me out here.

Because of your very cool screen name, I'll offer some advice... ;)

Technically, just to cure the rock and get the cycle going, you don't need any lights on at all.
I'd run your VHOs for 6 hours a day, starting about an hour or two before you get home from work.
That way you'll get to see what's happening when you walk in the door, and later you can check out the tank during the dark hours with a flashlight. All kinds of cool critters come out at night. Flashlight (maybe with a red lens?) viewing is fun. Maybe you'll spot a problematic crab or mantis shrimp. One never knows.
Anyway, the six hours a day should do nicely until you have some light-dependent livestock in there.
Good luck and have fun.
