how many crabs is too many for a 12g jbj nano cube?

hey guys. exactly how many hermit crabs is too many for a 12 gallon jbj nano cube? the crabs are about 3/4" to 1" in length. i've got nothing in there right now except about 3/4" of sand and 12 pounds of live rock. thanks!

Good question.
Some people will say 1 is too many, others feel 1 per gl is good.
My recommendation is get mostly snails of various species as these will do most of your cleanup work and hermits can be a problem especially the blue-legged hermits. My recommendation would be just a few Scarlet Hermit Crabs.
