Ok, I know it's a cheapie, however its what I got for now(I upgraded from a prizm)to a seaclone 100. Anyway I heard I can soup it up?I know about cutting down the tube in the bottom part to increase the bubble exposure time or something? but I also heard about inserting an air tube with an air stone connected to an external air pump? anyone know how this is done?I would appreciate a detailed explanation and any suggestions to improve the performance, and no I cant throw it away and get a new skimmer!

I upgraded from a prizm to a seaclone 100

Is this really an upgrade?

To be quite honest I have only ever heard bad things about this skimmer. Not alot about any MODS on it that I have read.

Is the seaclone running better than your prizm was?

the only real "upgrades" you can make to a seaclone are:
1. cut off the 1" pipe coming out of the bottom to the reaction chamber
a couple inches to allow for more reaction time
2. change out the air valve they have with a needle valve
3. and if you can cut down the pipe in the collection cup an inch or so.
these modifications will make the skimmer work somewhat better.
But.....if you want to skim like you should, you need to get a remora pro or a berlin turbo. then you can say your "skimming".

So which mods did you do?

I will be modifying my seaclone in a few days.

I have an airstone but not sure exactly how far down I need to place it and which type/size works the best.

I also will be cutting an inch off the collection cup.

Did you do any others?

Thanks,

Kim
