I recently placed a yellow watchman goby in my 12 gal and naturally it was hiding away for the first couple of days. Newbie that I am though, I started getting worried that it died or got eaten by my gramma basslet. Then, one morning while the lights were off, I saw it in the front of the tank on the sand all grey and discolored. I really thought it was dead but then it started moving around and and at the end of the day, recovered its color.

Is this usual behavior? I didn't know they could camoflouge...

I have a similar goby that changes "shading" on his body to blend better. I have very light sand and he goes almost white, and much darker LR, and when he perches on the LR his body turns a few shades darker to blend again. Kinda cool. 8)
