Greetings folks :)

I'm new here so forgive me if I posted this in the wrong forum...

My name is Lisa, and my husband and I are in the process of thinking about a reef tank. We're not sure where and how to go about this at the moment, so for now we're just gonna lurk and watch all the goings on - and research research research..

A little bit about me : I'm a photographer / artist (depending on what day of the week it is - but mainly a photographer). Now living in Maine, I originated in Perth, Western Australia, but met a fellow fishkeeper at a different site and we married this year.

Between us, we've kept freshwater fish for quite a while now, so we have experience in fishkeeping - just not salt :)

We're in no hurry whatsoever - All we wanna do is learn about the finer aspects of this hobby. We want to know what mistakes can be made and how to avoid making them :).

Thank you all for listening to me babble :)

Meri,

I hope you make the dive into keeping salt water. I'm sure you'll find plenty of support along the way with these boards. Just read as much as you can! And don't be hesitant to ask questions.

We were just having a saltwater photo contest in our local club. Here's a link. (Seeing as you're into photography) We have a few members who travel down from Maine. You're more than welcome check out the meetings.

Hope to see you around!

Thanks all for the welcomes :)

It's not like I'm just new to this, before I moved stateside earlier this year, I used to spend time (ok, ALOT of time) at a friends fish store - there they had some beautiful tanks set up - and equally stunning fish....

I've always liked reef tanks, and have been researching for a while, and I know what fish I like - but most of them aren't compatible....

BUT!! One day, I'm looking foward to setting up a tank - and when I do - I'll be around asking alot of questions :)
