Hi
I have a few fish in my tank and I none of them show any signs of parasites. I have purchased a yellow tang from a LFS and before adding it to my tank I examined him carefully (no QT available yet). After about 2 weeks I noticed a white spot about 1/8" in diameter near his butt. Looks like an area that has almost been bleached out. Hes now rubbing agains the glass and darting around. Usually Ich is smaller in size then this, right? I was curious if it was simply an injury. Since my tank is only a 40 its a bit tight for him to move around and he might have scraped himself on the rocks, Hopefully. I have read about ich but what other parasite could this be if not a simple injury? What treatments can be done within the tank to help prevent the spread? The more natural the better, I dont like adding chemicals. for Inverts I have a Coral banded shrimp, peppermint shrimp, purple tip anenome, yellow ployps, live rock. Im currently waiting to add corals, there's a local frag meet and I want to buy from there.
ALL my tests are acceptable:
amonia: 0
nitirte: 0
nitrate: 0
phosphates: 1
calcium : 450 This spiked a bit high a week or so ago to 550/600
salinity: .24
alk: 9.5
