My mother gave me an update on our 20g reef (http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=48235) last night, and she said that now our pearl bubble is fine, but our torch coral is having "issues." She said 75% of it is fine, with polyps out and moving in the water, but then one day she went to check it in the morning and found that one quarter had withdrawn the polyps and turned bright white. She said it was a little close to the pearl bubble so she moved it away, and she said that all the water parameters are still consistent (i.e. ammonia = 0, nitrites = 0, nitrates = <5ppm, etc.).

Can anyone tell me what might have happened and if there's any way of helping the coral? Could it have been stung?

Sounds to me like your bubble stung your torch. Not an uncommon thing to happen in a reef tank. :)
