I think that keyhole limpets are one of the best algae film cleaners there is, but you can't buy them. You can only hope to get some as hitchhikers on your rock...

I find that my turbo snails (Mexican, I believe) are far better than the Astreas. The blue-legged hermits seem to do a reasonable job on visible algae, and will also munch whatever falls to the bottom.

I have to ditto comments on sea cucumbers as not being appropriate for novices.

I think small serpent or brittle stars would also make good cleanup critters, but the LFS stars are all large.

Yes, Seamaiden, Manny's avatar definitely makes me want to take my hands off the keyboard and reach for the sky!

BTW, I don't understand the Aragorn Lap Dog signature? Is it a LOTR reference that I'm too dense to see?

Agae and detritus control seem to be the biggest continuous problem for many aquarists. I also believe that, in the proper balance, certain "clean up" critters are absolutely appropriate.

On another note.....

Am I the only one who feels the need to duck to the right whenever I see Manny's new av?

It's meant to make you feel safer.

No, it's a Sump reference (joke) that was inspired by some amusing dialogue. Take note of his sig, too. ;)
