Source of Aragonite and Calcite in Utah

I was just curious if anyone out there has ever gone and dug up their own aragonite and calcite? I live in Utah and read several pamphlets on a ghost town in a city called Aragonite, Utah. Well it turns out that indeed there was a mining operation there twice to excavate the crystals that were formed when the Gulf of Mexico reached into Utah. Seems like a cheap way to pick up aragonite rocks, but I don't want to break any laws either. Just wondering if anyone has obtained their own rocks this way?
