Green Haze

I have a 75gallon reef setup and recently I have noticed my water is slightly foggy and green! This is not really what I want. The chemicals all seem to be ok. I have to get my phosphate tested tonight. Any ideas on what else this could be and how to remedy the problem?

It's an algae bloom. Could be one of many species, but if you can control the nutrients, this will go away and stay away. If you aren't using a RO filter and good skimmer, that is a good place to start.

For now, I recommend use of good carbon and Polyfilter pads to help rid the water of the algae. A water change may also help to dilute nutrients, but only if the water change is nutrient poor

its called green water syndrome. water changes with good water. it will go away on its own.

You could also get a nice Diatom filter. I have an XL model and it works wonders. I use it on fresh and saltwater tanks (customer tanks) while cleaning the tank.

But a good water change should do it

Well, a carbon pad and a couple of RO water changes later and the bloom is gone. Hopefully not to return. Now if I can just get a bigger sump....
