I guess you are saying it molted? This is a good sign and it means it is growing. My shrimp eat when and what I feed the rest of the tank. Which is usually once a day.
This is a good thing, dont be alarmed. He just molted. My shrimp molt probably once every 2-3 monthes. Make sure you are giving the tank enough iodine. I use Kent Marine Iodine.
Yep, perfectly normal and a good sign.. - My skunk cleaner used to molt about once a month until he sadly got stuck on a PH temp. placed near his domain..
Water changes should provide enough iodine that you don't need to worry, depending on what you have for stock that might make the uptake go higher anyway... - Do you have a lot of xenia?
I thought my Coral Banded had bought the farm. I did not see it for months......then one day I see it come out and it was freakin huge! I never added Iodine and had not done water change in at least 6 months. I was truely shocked that it had avoided detection for so long.
Boy this brings back memories.Yeah Robert, like everyone says, it's normal. The first time I saw my Cleaners' molt I kinda freaked...Thought they had died or something. I too feed them whatever I feed the rest of the tank which is generally squid, plankton, brine shrimp occasionally.
You should also leave the exoskeleton in place for the shrimp to eat it. This allows the shrimp to get back the nutrients it needs to grow a new skeleton.
my shrimp just did that today and i though he had died too untill i went to poke at him then i noticed he was hidding some place else in the tank. was a bit freaked out at first but from what i hear it was a good thing!!
