I'm going to be starting a new aquarium probbaly in January. Its going to be 220 gallons (beautiful tank unfortuantly empty right now in my basement)

I want about a 3-4 inch sand bed. How much live sand should I need to steal from my 90 to seed the 220? Also, should I wait to seed until the live rock has been with the dead sand for a while in the The 90 we couldn't find live sand to save our lives so we had to wait a long time for the rock creatures to spread into the sand and now we have all the little crwlies in it.

It really is a subjective answer, since the more you put in, the faster the rest of the sand bed going to be pack with worms.

Same for the issue with how long to wait until the live sand in the 90 gal is ready. The longer you wait, the more homogenous the live sand going to be, and more likely the seeding will be successful.

But if you want concrete answers, maybe ten pound of live sand is enough to seed it when you are ready to setup the 220 gal.

The 90 is pretty full of wormy types and cops and all that good stuff. We lucked into some incredible live rock for the 90 which really helped. The 90 will also have been up for a year once the 220 gets a floor beneath it so I can start filling it :)

Obviously I want it to stabalize sooner rather than later, but I also do not want to rush it.

Rachel :)
