I have been advised to and have seen other people decide to remove the under gravel filtration system. Can someone explain how removing some of my filtration system will actually benefit the system. I am new to this and I trust the expert advice I have recieved but just need to know why before I start revamping my tank.

Well, I am no expert but from what I read, the under gravel filter is a sink for nitrates and phosphates and needs to be cleaned often. How much fun is that? If you remove this you should certainly obtain some other form of filtration, Protein skimmer with live rock is what most are doing.

the answer is NO...i think using the UGF is an old, old school way of doing it, before the modern advances of science...if a FW tank yes, do the UGF...
