Hi, I have a 73 Gallon Reef... the tank has cycled and has no fish or Corals yet.. there is a coulpe brown looking anenomes that were already on the live rock apparently when I got it..
I have the following setup as a filter:

CRP Overflow going into sump, pumped into a AquaC EV120 w/ Mag5 then back into the sump and pumped to Wave maker by a Mag 9.5.

The skimmer has been on for 2 weeks now and has not produced anything... I set the water level in it to 1/2" below the base plate.. any idea what I am doing wrong?

Maybe there just not enough protein in the water for it to skim :?

I used to jokingly ask people to put an egg or two into the tank.... but that was not very nice when they took me seriously...

How do I know if there is enough protien? Either way it wont hurt anything if I still use the skimmer, will it?

If something is rotting in the tank, such as when you are cycling the live rock, then you definitely need to be worry if the skimmer is not making enough foam. Yes, it won't hurt anything if you let the skimmer run (but the skimmerless folks may be all over my back for this comment....)

For the EV120, use a flash light to shine thru the dark acrylic and see if you can find the bubble in the reaction chamber. This check ensure that the injector (or whatever they call it in AquaC) is working properly.

The skimmer I am using is the prizum, and there seems to be plenty of foam in the chamber. However, I set it uplast night and there is not one bit of wast that was produced. Is that because it needs time??

Also, since the tank is only 7-8 gallon this is now the ony "filter" that is on the tank. I had the stock one on it, but there is not enough room for both.
