PC Lighting Question

I was wondering if someone could help me out with a question about Power Compact lighting.

I have a standard 29 gallon tank and I'm thinking about upgrading the lights. Right now I have 1 NO 10k bulb and I think it puts out 25 watts. I was doing some research and I think the best route for me would be to get power compacts.

My hood/canopy is really crappy and I'm not talented enough to build a nice one, so retrofit is out of the question. I'm thinking of buying one of those complete hood sets with the lights and fans inside a hood.

I have a similar setup on my tank and it works great! You can find both of those on ebay for cheaper then that.....I was going to pick up another light set to up my wattage and I found the 48" Coralife Aqualights for 79.99 so I can only imagine the 30" one being much cheaper.

I like CSL products, and I love Premium Aquatics. In fact I've got an older model CSL Hood on my 20g Reef Tank. Got a 65watt 6700K Ultra-Daylight and a 65watt 7100K Ultra-Radiant Actinic Blue setup that works quite nicely. One nice thing I like about Premium Aquatics is that I had a twichy Metal Halide bulb one time and Jason cross-shipped a new bulb for me no questions asked. HTH

I found that the aqualights get too hot. The cooling fans in the units are too small and don't move air through the fixture as quickly as it needs to. I had problems with heat before I removed the aqualight and replaced it with halides...

Scary no?

I like the new CSL fixtures with the moonlight built in. Nice sized cooling fans, no heat issues over our nano.. and it's got a moonlight ;-)

i prefer the jbj lights. they have good fans, no icrease in water temp as far as i have seen.

Ihave the CSL fixture that you are looking at on a 55 and i love them. Nice quiet fans and they don't get to hot.
