It is more than what you need for this hobby, unless you like to collect overpriced gadgets.

Well the auction is at $102 so far which includes the probe. The inline meter which Mikef was so kind to recommend is $61 and only does TDS. This one does Salinity/Temp/TDS/Conductivity. I figured instead of getting a meter for TDS and one for salinity and ph that is surely going to exceed $100, I would get one device.

Thus leading to my question, does anyone know anything about this device or should I stick with the one test one device deal? If this is not good which would you recommend?

With 0.5% full scale relative accuracy, it is one of the better meter out there, definitely better than 1 or two % you see in regular hobby meters.

The salinity scale is between 0.0 to 80.0 ppt, which makes it practical for monitoring salinity in aquarium water (~35ppt). The conducitvity is has resolution of 0.1 uS in the smaller range, so it is fine for RO water too. Like most thermometer, the accuracy is +/- 1C (I hate it when people give me reading like 79.8F on a $10 digital meter, it is only good to +/- 4F anyway).

What really makes this meter expensive is the RS232 interface, but unless you can take advantage of that, I will said this...as long as the bid does not go overboard, it is a pretty good deal below $150. If someone uses the RS232, expect him/her to bid $200+ for it.

Probe $350...you do know that probes have to be replaced, right? Your chances of finding just the probe on eBay are slim to none, when it's time for a new one.

I dom't remember the exact specs., but I think the probe is a graphite cell that does not need to be replaced unless the user is very careless. pH and ORP probes, on the other hands, usually only last a few years at the most....
