Well on Monday I was cleaning my tank. I had a recent algae bloom so I wanted to clean one of the rocks off. I took it out and low and behold there was that pesky mantis shrimp. Otherwise known as the grim reaper...you know, the one that eats all my clean up crews with those loud clicking noises. I got so excited I called my girlfriend and said look I finally got him. It was like hitting the lottery!!!
Now she starts crying, I'm like what wrong. She says "it cute I've been hand feeding it with the other stuff"...then she says"put it back"
I could think of a lot off things to do with it but, put it back? Anyway she donated it to a local fish store...does this not just keep getting better...I felt horrible because I didn't want some poor guy/girl end up with this thing (by the way it was huge 4 inches at least) I sneak down there because I didn't want her to find out...especially since she found it at home???? I go in ask for it and they tell me we sold it. I'm like fu&&%$@#$$#@$$....... I ask who bought it they said don't worry it was so big they bought it to eat. You see I live in Brooklyn a lot of different people here from different places. I guess it looked like a big old shrimp in the window.

Vince
ps anyone tells my girlfriend I'll kill em

It taste like shrimp, but not as meaty. In SE Asia, it is about 1/2 to 1/3 of price of shrimp on per pound basis, and the value reflects the taste.

I got poked several times by the mantis when trying to take the shell off. It is just too much hassle.

Well we damn Mexican's can't see any part of a cow, pig, chicken, or goat go to waste. BRAINS, TONGUES, STOMACHS, INTESTINES, FEET, EARS, TAILS, EYES, TESTICLES, ITS ALL FAIR GAME FOR US. Oh yeah, I think we also eat the meat.

I've had Mantis shrimp before and I think they're quite good except, as ck says, they don't have a whole lot of meet to them. I believe the Mantis I had was a Marble or Peacock mantis :P
