I replaced my Kent skimmer and just bought a MRC -MR-2 with a GENX 8500. Is there a breakin time that I should not expect any foam in the collection cup? It difnitely has bubbles but no protein rising to top.
Another question about the pump. The box says I should be able to control the output but does not explain. Do I do this by the barbed output size adapter. Wow this really sounds stupid I know but any help would be greratly appreciated.

It's a good question. Yes, skimmers have a break-in time where foam will collaspe and not produce much skimmate (if any) due to oils and residues on the plastic. After a couple of weeks, the skimmer should kick in and start working normally.

As for controlling the pump output, a ball or gate valve will do the trick.
