Which cleanup critters in anyone's opinion is the best for detritus and discarded food cleanup? I already have two emerald crabs and one cleaners shrimp, any ideas most welcome! Thanks!
I would recommend some nassarius snails. They will keep your sand moving and clean, along with a brittle star or serpent star. However, I personally only have experience with one brittle star, and he never ate, as far as I could tell, not even in the middle of the night. It was probably just him but next time I am going to try a serpent star in hopes that they're a little more active. Your emerald crabs and shrimp wont do much for detritus. The shrimp will scavenge leftover food and the emeralds prefer algae. If your tank doesnt have much algae growing you may need to get some to supplement your crabs...
