I put a Lees air and stone driven protein skimmer in one tank, and during the night time hours, the bubbles can hardly even reach the line that they are supposed to reach, but during the daytime, it has no problem doing this and just generally seems to be more capable during the daylight hours.

Is there a reason why one of these skimmers would do that?

Thanks,

Use to feed twice a day, 9am and 6pm, or somewhere around there.

This skimmer has only been in the tank for one day, so perhaps it will continue to create all these bubbles tonight as well. I'll have to see tonight since it's only been in the tank less than one day.

People told me dont expect it to get much skimmate, but dang, it's slowly pushing up some dark skimate up into the cup ever so slowly.

Perhaps this is a sign of overfeeding in the past 2 weeks?

Skimmers have a mind of their own, anything can change the way they are running. Just putting my hand in the tank will stop the skimmer.
