So I broke down and got my self a nice BTA Green. He looks real nice in my tank and took to the aclimation real well. I left the lights off for most of the day (MH that is) but the antics made him look so cool. I can't wait to get rid of this 5k and get a nice bulb. Not to ramble, I am jsut real excited and he/she went to the spot I wanted so everything is perfect.
I have read alot about these guys and just want to know what you all feed yours? Pieces of shrimp or heard were real good because they keep the tank clean, but is there enough vitimins? I can only get frozen silversides, is that OK? And what about goldfish; should I put them in there live (my mom isn't keen on that)?

Finally, I know that Maroons host in these guys, but would a pair of Pec's go to it if that is all I have. I like them much better but do not want to waste my time?

Thanks, You coments are so helpful.

Silversides is okay, and pieces of fresh shrimp from the market (chopped to 1/2" or so) are good meals too. Your LFS probably has frozen krill that you can soak in Selcon for 24 hours and then feed to your BTA.

Just a warning: your BTA might not readily accept all the foods above, or any of them for that matter. If it doesn't feed, it's okay. They do fine IME with sufficient light and with a clown symbiont. Percs may eventually adopt a BTA as host, but it's not 100% guarenteed. My friend (NKT) has a black perc that adopted a rose BTA after 6 months! It may just take some time. Check out the PHoto forum for some pics of his clown and BTA.

Goldfish have no nutritional value. Read January's www.advancedaquarist.com Invertebrate column (Toonen) for more info about Goldfish :)

Thanks Len
Yeah I tried the gold fish last night but he rejected it. After multiple times I finally switched to a piece of shrimp that he took right in. However, then I gave him to big of a piece and he took it in but found it this morning next to him so I need to give him smaller pieces like the first piece that he took right in.
I am so stoked that he ate and he looks real healthy. When his tenticles are in the Bulb position then he is not hungry; correct?
Len, what was that stuff you told me to soak the food in for 24 hrs.
Is there anything I should pay close attention to for this guy (for his health that is)?

Thanks for the help
I hate to carry on but this was the reason I started reefing a year ago and I finally was got the courage to take the jump and it has started with a bang.

Thanks again
J.
