Aqua Clear Skimmer setup?

I just bought an Aqua Clear 125 Skimmer, and would like to know how much air should I put through this thing?

If I open the venturi all the way, tons of bubbles come up to the collection cup, but a ton of water runs out the over flow collection tube. I just have the collection tube running back into the sump at the moment.

My question is should I have it setup so that just enought air is mixed in that the bubbles just barely make it to the top of the cup, or should I run it wide open and let the water run out the tube?

If you are letting the water just run back nto the sump, imagine what will be happening when it starts to skim...the skimmate will just flow back into the tank water. is it broken in yet or is it brand new/>

No it's brand new! Is there a break-in period? How do I know when It's working? Man I feel stupid!
