First let me tell you that everything was ok in my tank last night.
Last night I changed 2 bulbs in my PC strip, the 10Ks and changed out one of the powerheads, the stupid rookie mistake I made was I didnt think and I didnt rinse it off (it was NEW though)
While I had the light off and was changing bulbs I cleaned the reflector inside the fixture. Put the light back on, it was only on for 1/2 hour to an hour max! I figured the bulbs would be brighter and didnt want to leave em on all that long. Now when I put the light back up and turned it on all the fish were hiding and a couple of corals had closed up. GSP, frogspawn, fox coral and the toadstool. The pulsing Xenia had bunched up as did the reg Xenia (red kind) All the corals opened back up in the morning except the pulsing xenia looks shriveled and like it was burnt but the other xenia looks ok and all the fish except the 2 clown fish are laying on the bottom and breathing very fast!
What could be going on?
All my water levels are the same from before I did anything
SG .025
PH 8.2
nitrate 10 this has been lowering over time (removing bio balls slowly)
nitrite 0
Ammo 0
Ca 400
Alk norm/high line (redsea test kit, that was all they had)

Is there any other things I should test for? I will run out and get a test kit
I am going to do a water change right now!

thanks
Ray

A nitrate level of 10ppm is bad???

With what's happening, and since there's nothing apparent, I would go ahead and perfom a big water change and try running carbon. If it looks really bad, then get a PolyFilter, because there is so much we can't test for.

Its normal for the corals to close and the fish to hide when the lights go out. I don't think this has anything to do with the lights.

Did you take the new powerhead back out of the tank? If not, I would do that. Once I had a broken powerhead that was leaking current into the water- the only thing that was affected was the xenia. Well, me too when I touched both the reflector and the water at the same time! Have a GFCI now.

Well I took the PH out this morn, I never thought of taking it out....duh, stupid me! But I have had my hands in the water and touched things including the hood and I didnt feel anything. I will leave it off till I get home from work and see how things are.

As of this morn the fish dont seem to be breathing a little slower but not normal, but one of them is still missing, I hope he is hiding in the rocks, ammo is still testing at 0

thanks

Give it a few days and if the coral doesnt open by then you have a problem. Other than that I wouldnt worry about it.
