I have a Diatom Filter for my freshwater systems and was wondering if it is ok to run this in a saltwater tank every now and then to polish the water, will it take to much out of the water?
Yes, it's safe to use. Diatom filters can really polish water. However, I wouldn't use it unless your tank really needs to be cleaned of excessive floating particles. Diatom filters will filter out everything, including plankton.
