Essentially, like the topic says.

How much room should I give it so's it can't hurt anybody with the tentacles?

Its about 5" X 2" with the polyps extended.

I've placed it on its own side of the tank for now, but am going to be stocking up over the next few months, and wanna make sure I'm not putting anything in harm's way.

Thanks for the help!

if you make sure there is about an extra 4 or 5 inches around the polyps while they are extended you should be fine. Though if your water is good then it will continue to grow and you'll want more space.

Hammers grow fast and I'd recommend at least 6", preferably a foot around the colony. I know that sounds extreme, but not only do they grow fast but also throw out long sweeper tentacles. It's a good idea to put the Hammer "down stream" of the other corals so the currents don't blue the sweepers into its neighbors.
