any thoughts on how to cool down an isolation tank?

Hi! We have a 10 gallon isolation tank that we have a royal gramma in. We live in florida and our water is already pushing the limits of being too warm with no heater at all in the tank. The main 55 gallon tank runs between 80-82, but the little isolation tank is running at least 84. I'm thinking this is too hot. I don't know what to do because its not like I can turn the heater down or something because I don't have a heater (well, I guess I could crank up my airconditioning) I originally thought of running a fan near the tank and taking the hood off, but then I decided against that because I know for a fact that this guy is a jumper as he has already demonstrated that with us.
Any thoughts?

Cover it with netting or similar, and get a fan blowing across the top.

Ditto.

An alternative is a small pezo-electric chiller, but that's not cheap ($100 ?) for a hospital tank... some may feel that any amount of money is worth it, however (I know someone spent $500 on vet fee for a critter he got for free, what a man!).

Float a bag of ice cubes or a bottle of frozen water to cool. As an example: My wife decided to save a few bucks yesterday and turn off the AC while I was at work. (Bless her heart and tropical Latin blood ) My un-chilled 20 was off the temp. scale when I got home! I was able to get it back to normal in about 1 1/2 hours and nobody worse for wear. You don't have to crank the AC BTW, just set it for 80 while you're gone, that USUALLY keeps things in good shape. I've been considering the little chiller myself though lately.

i agree as above what the people say above using a fan to keep tank cool, however if u keep your tanks around 82. if iso tank is at 84 shouldnt be to much of a problem. Ther would be a problem if your regular tank was say 75 & your iso was at 84.

I would have suggested this, except for such a small tank the drop in temperature could happen really FAST. This equals really BAD.

I am using a fan on my sump and my temp dropped almost 5 degrees in the tank.

This works extremely well.
