A week ago I wrote regarding my cleaner shrimp(3) carrying eggs under their tails. Well, the lights just went out on my tank for the evening but the lights were on in the room. There perched at the highest point in the tank, was a shrimp, head pointed into the current(which was also facing the back of the tank). It lifted its tail, shook its swimmerrettes, and suddenly hundreds of tiny shrimp floated toward the front glass. There they held for several minutes as they were gently swept onto the live rock. It was SO COOL!! :D They were see-thru miniatures, definitely shrimp-looking. I wish some of them would survive.

Hey,
Did your shrimp molt after that? Mine do the same thing, then molt.

It would be a cool if some at least lived. But -- they just provided a lot of nutrition for the tank. Mine spawn probably once every several weeks or so -- just like what you mentioned.

Great sight.

It's also cool to see nessarius come out of their shells and send a cloud of reproduction up into the current. I miss it with my camera everytime. Never fails!

If you have a refugium, you could net some up and place them there. You never know, a few just might survive.

Any documentation on how to do this SM? It would be interesting. I thought that cleaner shrimp needed a "plankton" stage to survive?
Thanks,
