What do people use for a QT?

I just bought a 10 gal with a bio-wheel filter and powerhead. I plan on taking down the tank and sterilize before added another fish. Should I do anything different?

Ten gallons can tend to be rather small for a q/t unless you're only using it for single SMALL fishes. Otherwise, get a Rubbermaid tub to have handy.

I'm confused as to what tank you'll be taking down and sterilizing before adding another fish, but I assume it's the q/t. Lots of folks (most hobbyists, I'd wager) don't keep their q/t's up and running, so it helps to keep a sponge filter in the main for keeping a readily moved population of nitrifying bacteria on hand. Don't forget a heater unless you've got very stable ambient room temps.
