I'm thinking of upgrading to a wet/dry filter (currently running an Ehiem canister) to my 40g tank and want to know what you all have had the best experiences with. I'm looking at the CPR CR500 (I have the CPR BakPak skimmer, so I won't need to run one in the sump). Suggestions?? Thanks!

I would recommend you just get a simple sump without bioballs. It's not only recommended for reef systems, but is also cheaper. Wet/drys are pretty redundant when you're using sand and live rock. A sump with a good protein skimmer is going to perform a lot better then a wet/dry.

Yeah if you ever want corals, skip the wet-dry. They end up producing too many nitrates for a healthy reef tank.

rubbermaid......lol

But if you want a profession sump lifereef makes a great sump, so does oceanic. But that's going to cost you a lot of money. It's better to go with just a regular glass aquairum or a rubbermaid container. Since all it is is a tank with sand and liverock in it. All you have to do is separate some of the sections and bravo
