Does anyone know for sure if our critters cannot see certain light colors at night? I would love to read some articles on the matter, I have always been curious what color light to use so I can spy on my guys at night LOL

I know that most reefs inhabitants cannot see red (lack of developed photo receptors in this spectrum due to the fact that in nature, red wavelenghts only penetrate a couple feet into the ocean).
The blue rope-light works fantastic!
As soon as the main lights go off, and the ropes kick on, all the crabs, shrimp, starfish (the stuff you don't see during the day) come out. Also all my corals shut down, which is neat to see too.

And if you feel the ropes are too bright, you can plug them into a dimmer, and dim them as your eys adjust!
