does anyone know why my live rock is only developing green coraline on them? I have a 30 watt lighting going on waiting for the cycling to be done, I add calcium additives and two powerheads in my 46 gal - thanks

If your tank has many types of coralline but only the green kind is growing, it's really dependant on the conditions of the tank being favorable to a particular species of coralline. If it doesn't have coralline but the green type, you might want to buy a few pieces of small fresh LR with the pink and purple variety to seed your tank. These types generally don't grow much in the first few months of the tank, but provided enough calcium, they'll take off once the tank has matured. So all that may be required is a little waiting :)

Do a little detective work, and try to find some rocks with red coralline algae on it. I had a few snails that I picked up at a LFS in the Valley that had some on them. It pretty much grows in lower light areas, but looks nice in the corners or in the shade. :D

if the environment is suitable for the growth of purples and reds and pinks, my guess would be yes. It has before for me.
