DIY Eggcrate Refugium

Has anyone created one of these in-tank refugiums?
Do they really work as well as a seperate tank refugium?
What is the best way to keep these eggcrate box from just looking like garbage you forgot to take out of your tank?

That should work fine, and you can cover it with rocks.
Some people make 'pod pile' of rock that a fish cannot get into that generally have the same effect, but do look as artificial.

I don't see any problem with doing that other than that it looks like crap unless its totally hidden

Agreed. Looks bad, works fine. A full blown fuge would still be better. This would be much better than nothing at all.
