I bought a 12" T-5 flourescent light from Lowe's for my fuge and was wondering if this will be sufficient light to keep macroalgae.

It depends on the size of the fuge, but if it's anything bigger then 20 gallons, I'd say the light won't suffice for all species. Low light genera like Gracilia are good candidates.

I have a 30 gallon sump/refugium combo and I bought an 18 watt 7,100k Jalli light kit for it. Everything is growing nicely but I might buy a second matching kit to add more light....

Chaetomorpha Macro Algae does not need to be lit 24/7 like Calupera and other algaes. Calupera can leach nutrients back into the tank during times where the lights are off, so if you are not planning on keeping the lights on all day and night, you probably would want to stay away from photosynthetic algaes. I have had the Chaet. species in my refug lit by two 20 watt coralife 50/50 light bulbs and the stuff is outta control and keeps my P04 levels at 0. In your case I would probably go double what you have right now for proper lighting for your fuge for most algaes, true, some algaes only needed minimal light, but then again, minimal lights will lead to minimal results. Hope this helps.
