I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever run out of questions. I really appreciate all the answers and information I am getting here in this forum!

I am having a wall built in my basement with a 90 gallon tank built in. I am going to lay a 3/4" sheet of plywood on top of the wooden framework that was built. Would it be a good idea to use some of this foam I've heard of between the plywood and the tank bottom or can the tank sit right on the plywood? If using foam would you want the foam thin enough so that the tank rested on the edges of the frame only and the area inside the frame didn't touch the glass? Or would you want it thick so the entire underside of the tank (frame and glass) rested on/compressed the foam?

Thanks,
Robb

Since it's a glass tank you can go with the framework that just supports the bottom edges or you can do the plywood sheet. Either one will work fine - doesn't really matter IMO. Personally I wouldn't bother with the foam.

I use styrofoam underneath the entire bottom glass. I believe mine is 1/2" thick. I also had to use some hardwood shims underneath one side of my stand since it was noticably tilted.

I think it is used to avoid pressure points that can make your tank explode!, so (IMO) go for it. (I use a 1" thik all over the bottom of the tank) It can compensate for any or -some- irregularities in the frame and underside of the tank. Good luck. Keep the questions coming...
