I am having a problem with algae growing on my sand and it's making it all clump up. What should I do, is there anything out there that will clean the sand? Thanks for the help

How old is the tank?
I got the same thing when I put in my 250w MHs and it went away in a month. I am going through it again right now having upgraded to 400w MHs, it has been almost a month and I can see it starting to die down, I also have been cutting back on my feeding (I feed heavy :) )
