when to start a Kalk drip

O.K. I'm new to this and I understand to add it to make up water,but I have a two questions.
1. When do you start dripping kalkwasser?Once the live rock is cycled or right from the start?

You won't 'need' it till you start stocking the tank. If you aren't keeping stony corals you may not 'need' it at all.

2. where to buy pickeling lime?Local stores don't carry it.What brand,does it matter?

Works just fine. I ordered 10 bags about 2 years ago and haven't gone through them yet.

I'm trying to get all the small details ironed out before I venture into this long awaited project of reef keeping.
