55 gal up and running for 2 months now and finished up with the cycle. WetWebMedia.com said I should be correcting the ph and dosing (CA/Ak) the topoff water from my DI water supply for all my evap. Is this true? I've got a wide assortment of snails/hermits 1 lawnmower, small colony of Xenia and a small colony of Ricordea Yuma.

it is best to try and match as many o fthe water perameters as as possible. make teh changes in water quality less drastic. I right now don't but know that really should be and will start once my 55 is up and running

NOT TRUE. As long as you make sure the top off water is low in TDS/impurities (RO/DI is a good choice), there is nothing you need to worry about in term of pH or other additive factor.

BTW, welcome to RDO!

I agree w/ Dupa.. - Make sure topoff water has 0 TDS from your RO/DI and seal up any excess that needs to be stored as tightly as possible.

If you're talking about change water though, yeah, its best to make sure as many parameters match as you can, but really the two things that are most important there are (argueably) salinity and temp. (pH is certainly something thats good to match up too and might actually be more important than temp..)
