Howdy:

I am about to start plumbing in my 175g tank and external 20g refugium and have two questions?.......1) Where should the chiller go?.....I was going to install it between the sump and the main tank on the return line....2) Where should the thermometer go??

Thanks in advance.

1) it is fine there, as long as there is sufficient ventilation for the hot compressor to cool off

2) thermometer goes to the display tank, or before the chiller if water is circulate thru it continuously.

My thermometer is in the sump. Basically, put it where the water is "normalized" (that is, don't put it where the chiller or heater water is).

My return pump feeds my chiller which subsequently goes back into the display tank. I have my chiller outdoors. They require good ventilation, are quite noisy, and will heat up a small room very fast.
