ok, my colt coral is growing way too fast. I thought after my mishap with salinity earlier this week it would slow down, but it has grown noticably nearly daily. I think it is getting too big for its alloted space. should I treat it like a bush and just cut off some branches? I have a couple of pieces of rock that I can try to get the clippings to attach too, andy maybe find someone in my area that might want one.

My little 10 gal seems to be the wrong home for a colt :D

yes you can propagate it like a tree or a bush and reattach it to another piece of coral rubble..or you can send it to me :D

Wouldn't have the first clue on how to go about propogating it really. I just read somehwer that it can be clipped off and tied to a rock to re-attach.

Beyond that, how the heck do you ship a coral?

I will have to do something within the next week. it is pressing on 2 parts of the glass already.

colt coral is a softie and you can cut it with an exacto knife...shipping is a different story though..several ways of shipping...plastic bag and water..using a couple bags i should say tied off with rubber bands..like in LFS's...pack it tightly in a box and viola..thats kinda the easiest way...there are several different methods..depending on how far you have to ship, time/temp of the year..mode of transportation...someone a state away with maybe 2 day delivery you could do the plastic bag thing..Im only kidding i dont have the money now for anymore coral...

Is shipping that expensive? I am not in this for the money. If I can get a couple of pieces (frags whatever) to grow, you are welcome to it. I just don't want to ship you something and have it dead when it gets there.

Understood..priority mail 2days im in N.Nevad, your in N. Cali maybe 10bucks..the guy who sent me my mantis was in Florida..priority 2 day cost me/him 10 bucks...with shipping anything live, you run that risk of it being dead..i think colt coral is pretty tough and can handle the ship(unlike xenia sp.)..

I could use something colorful for my wife. I will have to read up on fragging colts, and try it out.
