:welcome:

I like 'em 'cause they look pretty. Some have reported that using them with a controller to simulate the phases of the moon encouraged their corals to spawn.

I'm now to divorce my wife and marry you because of your sig

They are super pretty!

I've only seen them on ebay and never in anyone's tank, mentioned in a book, or heard anyone bring them up on any discussion board so I was just wondering what people thought of them.

I think they are cool but I didn't know if that screamed newbie or not.
I'm glad I asked now.

And I love that you like my sig.
I was scared people here wouldn't even know who they are.
Now I feel like a dork for thinking that.
(Until I visited "The Sump", I was starting to think that I was the only one here who didn't have anything aquarium related in my sig or avatar. I'm used to music or band related message boards and it's the one I always use so I just thought I would keep it for this one too).

Both of my power compacts (custom sealife) came with built in moon lights. My 65G has a total of 5 moon lights over it at night

Fuzzbutt is cool, but he doesn't like The Clash. I think you should start a thread about it.

Post if you are looking to do a diy moonlight.

I love mine. I have the PFO ones on my tank and it lights it up just enough to check things out at night and even gives cool shimmer lines

I've seen the effects of that once. Left the owners tank cloudy for about a week.

I guess the CLASH should be considered the greatest band that couldn't sing.

I'm going to try a short string (50) blue x-mas lights. If it works they will be completely hidden in my suspended hood. Not to mention cheap, cheap, cheap ;~) I plan to just cycle them opp of my daylights for now.

One of my local shops has em in... They're 45 pounds (UK) . Not had the cash to try yet, will let you know.

He has a demo tank, and i can tell you they look better in real life than the pics online. Pics do not do them justice. I do however think that the 2 or three it would take to light my tank are a little on the expensive side of things if your intending to buy off the shelf.

I've heard those blue LED rope lights can give the same effect.....anyone tried this?
I can get 12' of lights for $9....way cheap :)

And FWIW, the Clash most *definitely* can sing!!! Maybe not that well, but they do sing!
Gah..what do I know..I listen to Morrisey...

:D Here is my pict of a 55 SW test tank. Out of sight is the 50 bulb xmas string @ 12 watts. I think it looks pretty good for just a $1.50 investment. I know the nanometers may not be right but neither necessary are LEDs so what do we have to loose if we don't try everything. I pick these from Target in the "it is way to F!@@ing early for X-mas Stuff" area

:?: What do you think? Veterans any opinoins(Now That's a Loaded question)?

I'm guessing the pic is probably darker than what it looks like in person, but if you're happy with it, sounds like a good plan.

Just make sure the lights are in a location where they won't get splashed much or get much salt creep on them since they're probably not watertight sockets.

No picture is about right if there is no other lights on in the Basement.

They are water tight-ish, as they are Outdoor lights. I plan to have them nicely tucked in my DIY hood, so hopefully no creep.
