Hi guys.

I was wondering what some of you would suggest for a clean up crew in my 37 Gallon reef in progress? I don't want anything that will eat valuables, should I one day choose to put some nice corals in there. Only thing I have as far as a crew goes now is 1 Cleaner Shrimp.

Thanks.
B.

Aim for a handful of a mixed variety of snails...

Trochus, Astrea, Nassarius, Cerith and a good number of others are perfectly safe and do a varying amount of work. If your tank is relatively new, I suggest staying away from sand sifting critters initially (stars, fish).

Some other nice to have items: cucumber or two (tigertail or black atlantic sand eating kind), urchin (variety of types are fine), some black brittle stars (not the green serpents).

If it were mine I would get 20-25 algae eating snails( a mix of what you can find), an emerald crab or two, 5-10 blue leg hermits. If you have sand then some nassarius snails or a sand sifting cuke.

Stick to red leg and scarlet hermits over blue legs... in all the instances I see, the blues are the most omniverous and most likely to go after snails and each other.
