Has I've said before, I have started my first marine setup with tap. Because of what I read till now and of the people I've listened to, including in this forum, I am going to buy a RO filter.
Could I use the water that I already have in my tank, the tap one, and slowly introduce the new RO water or should I start from scratch?
Mind that I have nothing yet in my tank. I was going to introduce live rock next week. I would like to avoid, though, starting again.

Merry X-mas.

I would start it with the RO filter. If you have any question concerning your water quality from tap then you should start it with RO now! ALL at once it wouldnt make sence to introduce it a little at a time .. think of it as if your survival depended on it.

When you are diluting your tank water, it will take much more than your tanks total volume to completly remove all of the tap residue. Start over from new RO+salt is the easiest and most time saving.

Since you have nothing in the tank, what are you worrying about?

Yeah, you're right.
That's what I'll do. It's just that the live rock has already arrived at the pet store and they are "pressing me" to go get it.

One other thing: Is it normal to have 3/4 liters of water evaporated every 2 days?

I'd start with RO water if I were you.

All you are wasting is water and maybe some salt.

You'll likely get some nuissance algea's if you use tap. Well, for that mater you're gonna probably see some nuissance algea's either way, but you should do everything you can to minimize the causes. RO will help.

Evaporation rate varies from tank to tank, depending on several factors, surface agitation, room ambient humidity, Room temp, and tank temp.

The tank I used to have is close to 250G display + sumps. I lose close to 2G+ a day.
