No. A skimmer removes dissolved organic compounds from the water. High nutrient levels in your tank can lead to nuisance algae problems.

My experience is that if you are able to maintain high calcium levels, the base rock (assuming it's made of limestone) will be covered nicely with purple coralline in about 4-6 months.

Here's the wierd reddish berries. Maybe that's what the explorers found on Mars.

we're going to need a better pic than that. try getting a closer shot of the stuff we're supposed to be looking at or crop the pic for us.

If your 10 gallon is on a stand, you might be able to use a CPR or Remora on it. Don't know if it will overskim or not, but if your not a "do it yourself" kinda person, they maybe a way to go.

Sorry, can't do any better. Anyway, now everything seems to be 'dusted' with some white powdery substance. I have a few copepods whippin around on the glass - man, they move like bugs through the air!
