Hello,

How many plugs can you plug into a single double outlet??

I have the following to plug in:

1) 1/4hp Chiller
2) 500gph pump
3) 800gph pump
4) Actinic
5) 3x400W Metal Halide
6) 2 moonlights
7) Power compact for refugium
8 ) Dimmer controller

The problem I have is the 7 timers I have for the lights. I had programed all the timers for different on/off times, however, the outlets on the timers are on the side so they take up two spaces on the power strips I got. Is best to just plug a seperate strip into the timer and have all the lights come on in one go?

Would welcome any and all suggestions!!

Thanks.

It is not the number of plugs, but the amount of current that you draw.

Look at the amp rating for that plug (usually 15) and in your breakerbox for the AMP rating of the breaker (usually 15 or 20 in a home).

I am guessing that having a chiller and metal halides on the same circuit is getting you close to the limit, but you are probably OK.

(I think a 100w lightbulb (incandesant) draws about 1 AMP just for a frame of reference)

good idea the amperage load should not be over 80% of capacity anyway i would put pumps ane essential on one the lighting and non essential on the other that way if a ballast goes the pumps will run
