MH retrofit question

How good are MH retrofits anyway? I currently have a coralife VHO power strip that supports my soft corals fine, but I would like to upgrade to MH eventually. I can’t hang lights because my landlord won’t let me. Would the MH heat the tank up to quickly? My strip sits about 2 inches from my glass hood and I use an oscillating fan to cool my tank :wink: Opinions?

Not sure what size tank you're talking about, but generally you can build a canopy and mount the halides inside, along with some fans for cooling. Provided the tank is in a temperature controlled room and you don't have pumps that add a lot of heat to your water, many people can get away with just the fans (evaporative cooling) for temperature control.
